Anurag Kashyap`s Bombay Velvet releases later this week. Starring some big names from the Bollywood industry including Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Karan Johar, this movie shall take us back to the era of 90s when business was brutal and money was the sole ambition. Bombay Velvet, with its high expectations, also brought a long wait for the fans. The release of this movie was delayed time and again due to numerous issues.

The biggest challenge in creating this period drama was getting the setup right. While creating the magnum opus, one has to keep a lot of factors in mind, especially budget. In Anurag Kashyap`s words, the movie took a long while as the movie was a story of the city before the characters. The first difficulty came in the form of selection of the place ideal to shoot the movie. For obvious reasons, finding such a huge piece of land was going to prove meticulous in India. Therefore, the team headed to Sri Lanka. The country was looking to build a studio and this led to the building of the 9 acre set in the land of Sri Lanka.

Seeking assistance from the talent locals, the team overcame barriers of language and finance and created a masterpiece that is now ready to hit the theatres. The set took less than a year to create, testing patience and determination of everyone was involved in the project.
