An Ahmedabad-based event management firm owner attempted suicide here Sunday ahead of the concert of singer Mika Singh whom she has accused of dishonouring his professional commitment and cheating her of Rs 27 lakh, police said. The complainant, Priyanka Chadda, who runs a production-cum-event management company allegedly consumed sleeping pills outside a Gurudwara at Thaltej in Ahmedabad on Sunday afternoon. Chadda was rushed to Sola Civil Hospital for treatment, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Vastrapur police station, K G Chavda said.

Chaddha said that she has regained consciousness and her condition was stable. Mika's event took place at GMDC ground here Sunday night.

`Chadda told us in her statement that she went into depression after losing Rs 27 lakh and consumed sleeping pills. Her condition is now stable,` the police officer said. As of now, Vastrapur police have registered a non-cognisable (NC) case in this regard. `Since she consumed pills in our jurisdiction, we have taken her statement and registered an NC case. We will take necessary action if needed in this regard,` said Chavda.

In her complaint with Naranpura police on May 14, she claimed that Mika Singh and his manager Kawaljeet Singh had allegedly collected Rs 27 lakh to hold a show in Ahmedabad In March. However, it was postponed reportedly due to prevalence of Swine flu in Gujarat. Though they had collected the advance amount from her, they held the show on Sunday in partnership with some others. She further alleged that her business partner, Pravin Patel, also cheated her by allegedly conspiring with other accused.

According to her complaint, she had paid the first instalment of Rs 7.5 lakh to Kawaljeet Singh at his office in Mumbai through one Salim Ahmed Khan. She had reportedly received a written confirmation of Mika's performance on March 8. However, Kawaljeet allegedly demanded the remaining amount too before holding the event and reportedly collected a total amount of Rs 27 lakh from her. She further alleged that three other private company owners also contacted her allegedly to hold the event jointly. Since she had refused their partnership offer, the trio allegedly joined hands with Pravin and organised the event. The other three had been identified as Pragnesh Mali, Devang Bhatt and Mayur Udhani in her complaint.

The Naranpura police had registered a case of fraud, cheating and criminal conspiracy under Sections 420, 406, 114,120B and 506 of the IPC.
