The casting for the sports biopic of wrestler Mahavir Singh helmed by Nitesh Tiwari is underway and Mallika Sherawat apparently auditioned for the role of Aamir Khan's wife.
"The casting is still going on for the film. She is a wonderful actress... she contacted our casting director, auditioned for a role. We are concentrating on getting cast for the younger version that is -- 12-14 years for Geeta and Babita (Mahavir's daughters and women wrestling champs)," Aamir Khan said in an interview here.
"Once this integral part of casting is done we will focus on my wife's part and then there is another interesting character of my nephew," he said.
There was plenty of speculation on who will play Aamir Khan's daughters in the film. Names of several actresses like Kangna Ranaut, Tapsee Pannu, Urvashi Rautela and others had cropped up in the media but ultimately Fatima Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra bagged the coveted roles after months of auditions.
"We auditioned a lot of girls and have finalised Fatima Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra. We tested them and they are very good. These two young girls are very talented. These girls are training in wrestling," Aamir Khan said.
Reportedly, Fatima is a Mumbai girl and has acted in a few films and a TV serial and Sanya born and brought up in Delhi, is a trained ballet dancer.
'Dangal' is based on the real life story of Mahavir Singh and his star daughters chronicling their relationship. The film is set to go on the floors in September this year.
