"It is a sarcastic love story where an old man romances a young girl," Balakrishnan told on phone from Mumbai.
An advertising professional for 17 years, Balakrishnan had conceived the film with Bachchan in mind.
"The idea of making the film came to me a year and a half ago and I wanted to work with Bachchan. I discussed the story idea with him and thankfully he liked it. After that I started writing the script," said Balakrishnan.
He refused to elaborate on the unusual pairing and said: "It is indeed unique casting. But I can't tell you more about it. Let me first make the film, then we will talk about it."
The film is set to go on the floors Thursday and will be shot in Mumbai, Delhi and London over three months.
Paresh Rawal plays Tabu's father and Zohra Sehgal essays the role of Bachchan's mother. Sunil Manchanda is the producer of the film which will see southern maestro Ilayaraja score the music.
