Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Fan', which was initially slated to hit theatres during the Independence Day weekend, has finally been pushed to 2016. Reason? The post-production involving complex visual effects has proved to be quite a laborious task.
A source says, "The team is trying to come up with never-seen-before VFX in the film and that is taking longer than expected. Though the initial release date was pushed ahead by a month, the makers now feel they may not be able to meet the deadline. So, the film has been postponed to early 2016." A source close to the project dismisses rumours that Shah Rukh's knee surgery has delayed the release. "The real reason is that we are yet to shoot another schedule and it will take some time for us to complete the post-production work," adds the insider. The film features SRK in a double role - as a superstar and as his lookalike. Former model Waluscha De Sousa and newcomer Shreya Pilgaonkar will be seen in lead roles.
Aashish Singh, vice president-Production at Yash Raj Films, confirms the story, saying: "Due to highly complicated VFX employed for the film, 'Fan' will release only in 2016. The exact date will be decided soon."
