Parineeti Chopra may not have any upcoming releases in 2015, but the actress insists that she is not on a break from movies. And the 26-year-old actress is fed up of rumours of her mythical sabbatical.
"What sabbatical? It has just been six months since my last release. I start shooting for my next film by the end of the year and also have multiple scripts on my platter," she says, pointing out that after her debut film released in 2012, she sat at home for a year and no one cared. "I've taken breaks of six to eight months in the past, it's only this time that I've been getting all these texts wondering why I've disappeared from the industry. When Kangana (Ranaut) or Deepika (Padukone) wrap up a film, they don't jump into their next film the following morning, do they?"
Quiz her on whether her next film is the romcom,Jugalbandi, with Saif Ali Khan and Parineeti says, "There were a couple of discussions about a film with Saif, but nothing has been finalised. I am not doing any film with him at the moment. You'll know which film I am signing soon enough."
She is also not a part of the content-driven, small-budget films that her sister Priyanka Chopra's production house, Purple Pebble Films, is rolling out next year. But that doesn't keep her from taking inspiration from theDil Dhadakne Doactress.
After following Priyanka into Bollywood, Parineeti now hopes to become a successful singer and work in the US too - albeit on stage, instead of a TV show like PeeCee. "I am a great singer and have been waiting to record my first single. I even told Vaibhavi Merchant that I want to be a part of her hit musical,Taj Express.I love being on stage and will hopefully be recording my first song this year. It will not be a pop, jazz or rock number but a Burlesque-style single. Being on Broadway is my ultimate dream and my single could be a step towards it," she asserts.
For now, Parineeti is focussing on herself and has been working out intensely for the past six months. "When you are overweight, you just don't feel good about yourself. I still have a long way to go to reach my ideal weight but I am getting there," she beams. She is also decorating her dream house, which she'll move into by the end of this month. And what's better than your own home sweet home where you can dream big. Atta girl!
