BSF has already finalized plans for recording the script about this border tourist attraction in the actor's famous baritone.
BSF deputy inspector general, Amritsar sector, M F Farooqui, told TOI on Thursday that he had discussed the project with Bachchan. "We are making efforts to have his voiceover for the commentary during the border drill."
At present, visitors get to learn about the ceremony by listening to Farooqui's voice over.
Sources said that Bachchan is ready to lend his voice for the project which could be launched on August 15. Bachchan's baritone copyright voice will bring in a richness of tone and delivery to the whole experience.
A revamp of Attari viewers' galleries and addition of infrastructure is going on following the increase in footfall for the drill conducted simultaneously by BSF jawans and Pakistan Rangers.
This will not be Bachchan's first voice over in Amritsar. He had lend his voice for a 52-minute Son-et-Lumiere (light and sound) show based on the April 13, 1919, massacre of freedom fighters by then British Brig-Gen O'Dyer at Jallianwala Bagh. The show was inaugurated by former defence minister AK Antony in 2010.
Sources said BSF is trying to convince Bachchan to do the voice over for free and are hopeful of getting him to launch the project.
