Who would have thought that the Locomotion girl would manage to reinvent herself and become hot property again? Well Kylie Minogue, everyone`s favourite soap-star/popster from the land Down Under, has done exactly that with her latest album Fever. It's been burning up the charts ever since its October 2001 release. In fact, it has been accredited double platinum in the UK, making it her first album to achieve so much since Enjoy Yourself in 1989.
Fever is a cool collection of dance music with the unmistakable stamp of Kylie`s oomph with its sexy groove-oriented music. The first single from this album Can`t Get You Out of My Head was co-written by the early 90s singer Cathy Dennis and former member of Mud, Rob Davis. The song`s main strong points are its simple but completely irresistible bass line and catchy lyrics - with a steamy music video to match.
Minogue goes back in time to the days of disco with the opening song More, More, More. She really turns on the heat on the title track Fever and gets funky on the Modjo-flavoured Love at First Sight. Fragile and Dancefloor are worth a listen, too, but Give It To Me falls flat on its face and In Your Eyes sounds suspiciously like her comeback hit Spinning Around.
Be warned, those looking for angst and anguish should look elsewhere. This album is strictly for those you wanna party. It`s playful and it`s perky, quite like the singer herself. You just have to remember not to take it too seriously and you won`t be disappointed.
