For promoting the upcoming Punjabi 'ghostly' romantic comedy 'Sardaarji', the star cast was in town, producer Gunbir Sidhu tells he had no second thoughts

When it comes to ghosts, Punjabis is one class of people who actually enjoy it rather than being horrified. The stories of ghosts are like entertainment for them. The same wit and fearlessness of a 'Sardaarji' is now reaching the screens near you in a fun way on 26th June. Starring Diljit Dosanjh, Neeru Bajwa, Mandy Takhar and Jaswinder Bhalla, this 'ghostly' romantic comedy is a production of White Hill Production. Directed by Rohit Jugraj, the film has been produced by Gunbir Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu. The team was in town today to promote the film.

The story is all about ghost busting in England's haunted Castle Craigdarroch where our Sardaarji Jaggi has been called upon to catch the ghost. Lead actor Diljit tells, "It was just in the form of an idea with our writer Dheeraj Rattan. He discussed the same with me and I was so excited to hear it that I asked him to give it a shape of a story. Being Sardaarji, I represent every single Punjabi who is adventurous enough to hunt for those ghosts who exist more in stories than in reality."

For Mandy, the fearful atmosphere existed both on and off screen. She said, "The castle we shot in was actually ghostly. After hearing its stories from the locals, I was badly horrified. More than that Diljit and Neeru took advantage of my fear and played a lot of pranks. I had a few sleepless nights too."

Neeru Bajwa on the other hand enjoyed a lot while shooting. She told, "Playing the ghost isn't too bad. When I saw myself into special effects during post-production, I was overwhelmed. The audience is certainly going to enjoy the quality of what has been shown in the film."

Director Rohit Jugraj is gradually proving himself into the Punjabi film industry and looks promising with this project. He said, "Stars are dependent on the film. Film is dependent on the director and the director is always dependent on the script. Once you have a good script in your hand, the execution becomes lot easier and healthier. The storyline here is something very different and I had a good liberty because of our supportive producers."

Producer Gunbir Sidhu & Manmord Sidhu told, "As producers we always hunt for good concepts and are very open to experimentation. Sardaarji is one classic example of newness within the liking of Punjabi audiences. The film is certainly going to be loved. We had no second thoughts before starting this film."
