If you jog your memory a bit, you will remember that the Indian audience got a taste of bromance for the first time with Dil Chahta Hai. Excel Entertainment has actually been a pioneer in this genre of cinema in Bollywood.
Movies that celebrate male friendships have been around for a long time, but true bromance films that have recall value are few and far between. As mentioned above, best friends and business partners, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar have taken the genre to heights, first by introducing bromance in a film like Dil Chahta Hai and then taking the genre several notches higher in films like Rock On!!,Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara,Fukrey and now Bangistan, which releases on July 31.
Primarily,Bangistanis a fun film about two blundering terrorists, who are on a mission to change the world.Starring Riteish Deshmukh and Pulkit Samrat, the film is a situational comedy. But at its core, there is also a bond between two guys.
Says Ritesh Sidhwani, "Bangistanis about two unlikely people finding themselves and eventually becoming buddies in the most unusual circumstances through their journey. It's funny and quirky. Both Riteish and Pulkit enjoyed each other's company while shooting the film, which translates on screen."
Says debutant director Karan Anshuman, "Bangistan makes for a most unlikely bromance because the lead characters are antithetical in every manner, making their journey a real blast."
