After Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt, now Shabana Azmi lends her voice for upcoming movie 'Chalk N Duster'. The song is based on the mathematical rule of solving equations known as the BODMAS rule.
According to the Music Composer Sandesh Shandilya, the song is very interesting part of the film which shows how an experienced teacher teaches mathematical forms of BODMAS in an interesting way by singing and the students enjoy as well as understand the mathematical form. Since, Shabanaji plays the Mathematics teacher in the movie, Sandesh Shandilya requested Shabana ji to sing the BODMAS song. She considered Sandesh's idea and thought of experimenting.
Shabanaji asked the music composer to share the tune and lyrics with her. When she heard the tune, she found it very refreshing. The next day, he made her listen to the tune and gave her the lyrics for the song. The actress memorized in no time and recorded the song in 20 minutes!
Shabana was already familiar with the BODMAS rule that stands for Brackets, Order, Divide, Multiply, Add, Subtract which is a sequence to carry out arithmetic operations. The scene required her to sing the mathematical sequence so that kids start liking the subject. The main objective was for them to have fun while learning.
Sandesh Shandilya explains "I have always been a big fan of Shabanaji's acting and now she lent voice for one of my compositions. I`m really grateful to her. Shabanaji being a popular theatre artist memorized the lyrics in a short span. The song has come out really well".
Ranjeev Verma, also the script writer for the movie, penned the lyrics for the song in a day!
The movie also stars actresses Juhi Chawla, Zarina Wahab, Upasna Singh and Richa Chadda in major roles, along with Girish Karnad, Jackie Shroff, Sameer Soni and Arya Babbar in pivotal roles.
