Amit is best remembered as Renuka Shahane's truant husband Mahesh in Asha Parekh's serial "Kora Kagaz" on Star Plus.
This is not his first stint with theatre.
"I have worked with Neena Gupta, Lillette Dubey, Paritosh Painter and many more but 'Topi Shukla' will be my return to experimental theatre after 10 years," said Amit.
"Before that I had worked in 'Kanyadan' written by Vijay Tendulkar, which was on the lines of sensitive and experimental theatre. That was the first time I met Dinesh (Thakur) and recently we decided to team up for this venture," he added.
"Topi Shukla", written by Rahi Masoom Raza and directed by Dinesh Thakur, is based in Aligarh of the 1960s and will be staged April 29 in Mumbai.
Amit is also working on Zee TV's daily soap "Mamtaa" as well as "Zarra Si Zindagi" on the Pakistani Channel ARY Digital.
And very soon he will be seen in the movie "Eik Dasttak".
