Salman, known to promote younger talent in industry, is the producer of 'Hero', the debut film of Sooraj, son of the actor couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab.
Actor Suneil Shetty's daughter Athiya is also making her debut in the film which is a remake of Subhash Ghai-directed 1983 film of the same name.
"One Sooraj (Barjatya) supported me all my life, so I can support another Sooraj (Pancholi)," Salman said at the trailer launch of 'Hero'.
He said both Athiya and Sooraj will do well in their career.
"Both are stars. They look good on screen. Sooraj has a great endearing quality on screen. I think Sooraj will come into my slot..He is going to lessen the gap between me and him. He is going to push me," Salman said.
Addressing Aditya and Athiya, who were present at the function, Salman said in a lighter vein, "You guys better do well or else I will be a punching bag. Both your dad's Aditya and Sunil will punch me."
On Athiya, Salman said, "Athiya should work so hard that she should work with the young generation as well as with our generation. She should work with Shah Rukh, Aamir and me."
Recalling his debut on silver screen, Salman said, "When 'Biwi Ho To Aisi' was made I was under confusion whether people should watch it or not. It had a run for 100 days. I want to spread love I got. I am close to both Anna (Suneil Shetty) and Aditya Pancholi. We have been friends."
Salman, who has sung a number in 'Hero', clarified that he was not playing any cameo in the film.
'Hero' was earlier slated to be released on September 4 along with John Abraham's "Welcome Back", but has been put off till September 11.
When asked about the postponement, Salman parried the query saying, "Postponed the release because 'humne Welcome ko welcome kar liya."
