Yakub was sent to the gallows, on his 54th birthday on Thursday, after several of his court appeals and clemency petitions were rejectedby various courts, including the Bombay HC, the Supreme Court, the Maharashtra governor and the president of India.
Like the rest of the country, Bollywood, too, was divided into two groups. While one group supported Yakub Memon's death sentence, the other group opposed it. When Bollywood's Bajrangi Bhaijaan took to Twitter to vote in support of Yakub Memon, some others from his fraternity nodded their consent. However, after drawing much flak for questioning the judicial system of the country and its decision, the actor deleted the tweets and also apologised on the micro-blogging site.
However, after the convict was hanged on Thursday, Bollywood celebs took to Twitter to express their views.
