At the same time there is no denying the fact that this phenomenon of copying and re-copying is now a normal thing for our cine literati, who now conveniently cover-up their inability to innovate, under the shade of this `REMAKE` umbrella, and camouflage their copying act by declaring it as an inspiration.
So with another much awaited movie of the year i.e. Drishyam joining the remake bandwagon, come check-out with us a few more Bollywood blockbusters copied, Oops! we mean inspired from some of the southern money spinners.
Ajay
Movies: Drishyam, Singham, Son of Sardar
Inspired From: Drishyam, Singham, Maryada Ramanna
Soon after the release of its first trailer, this Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer literally draped entire buzz around it. Just like `Singham` and `SOS`, even this thriller drama is a remake of Mohanlal's Malyalam cine edition which released in 2013. Now it will be interesting to see that how masses receive this stale plot. And we are saying stale, because it has already been remade 2 times before in Kannad and Telugu.
Besides it is also noteworthy that some of the past money spinners of Ajay like `Singham` and `Son of Sardar` were also the remakes of Tamil `Singham` and `Maryada Ramanna` respectively.
Salman
Movies: Wanted, Bodyguard, Ready, Jai Ho, Kick
Inspired From- Pokiri, Bodyguard, Ready, Stalin, Kick
Undoubtedly among his contemporaries, Salman has the longest list of 100 crore grossers. But at the same time there is no denying the fact that this Sultan of box office has the longest list of copied movies too. But this fascination of Salman is quite valid also, because at one point of time when his career was going through the lowest phase it was this "REMAKE MANTRA" only which emerged as a boon for him and rescued his sinking career boat and Sallu marked a comeback with `Wanted`.
Aamir
Movie: Ghajini
Inspired From: Ghajini
Though he is known as Mr Perfectionist of Bollywood, but unfortunately even Aamir could not escape from this "COPYING EPIDEMIC". In fact it won't be wrong say that Aamir was among some of those early birds who decoded this money making mantra before anyone else.
And the success which the remake of southern BO rocker, Ghajini attained at the BO is one of the conspicuous example of that.
Akshay
Movies: Bhool Bhulaiya, Rowdy Rathor, Gabbar Is Back, Holiday
Inspired From: Manichitrathazhu, Vikramarkudu, Ramanna, Thupakki
When it's about remakes then how can on forget to add the name of Khiladi Kumar Akshay in the list. Just like Salman, even Akki has a long list of BO charmers inspired/copied from some of the southern cine whiz-bang.
