Eminent filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt, Ashok Pandit and Sudhir Mishra today urged the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir government to take immediate action to book the
culprits involved in a sex scandal in the Kashmir Valley.
In separate letters to AICC President Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, they said, "We filmmakers are concerned with
the conditions prevailing in Srinagar with regard to the sex scandal in which senior bureaucrats, police and politicians are allegedly involved."
They said "in this hour
of crisis we extend our full support to the people of Kashmir, who have come out on the streets to show their concern to protect the dignity and honour of women in the
Valley".
"We also hope for an immediate inquiry into the entire issue so that the culprits are brought to book," they said.
