The 32-year-old "Bang Bang" actress said a very large portion of the film has been completed and they are left only with some "complex sequences".
"No we didn't re-shoot anything... I wish... Because if we were re-shooting we would at least be shooting something. A very large portion of the film is complete but there are some slightly complex sequences which are left."
"It's a very brave film. We have tried a lot of new things in the film and to do that I think it takes time," Kaif told PTI.
The comedy-drama film, directed by Anurag Basu of "Barfi!" fame, was supposed to release last year but got delayed.
The film tells the story of a young detective, who is in search of his father. Kaif said Basu is an "indulgent filmmaker" who does not live under any pressure, something which she respects a lot in the director.
"Anurag Basu is one of those directors who doesn't live under the pressure of time or restrictions which all of us abide by in the film industry. He is like a true wandering artist. He wants to make the movie according to his time and he is not going to put under pressure by anyone.
"He just wants to live with his script, nurture and blossom it. I have got a lot of respect for that because you can see his passion for films. He is a very indulgent filmmaker."
Kaif will be next seen in Saif Ali Khan-starrer "Phantom", directed by Kabir Khan. The film will releases today.
