"The film is set in London and I play a Pakistani man, who has successfully returned from a Hajj in Mecca," says Om, admitting that he's been flooded with international offers since his role Lasse Hanstrom's The Hundred-Foot Journey. He will also kick-off a yet-untitled American film next year. It will be shot in Cincinnati and he's excited since he have never filmed in Ohio before. "I have also signed a Canadian production which will roll in Montreal in November. I will be shooting for 10-20 days for each film," he says.
The 64 year-old actor was last seen as a Maulana in Salman Khan's 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' and has one other film, 'Sanat Par Haazir Ho', a satire on the judiciary system waiting in the wings. "It's inspired by a true story, but with no money for promotion, the film may not see the light of day," he sighs.
The only Hindi film on his platter at the moment is Gandhigiri in which he plays a modern day Mahatma Gandhi. "The film is set in today's times. I play an NRI who comes back to India and decides to abide by Gandhi's principals. I'll be wearing khaadi and preaching but I won't go bald," he asserts.
Directed by Sanoj Mishra, the film has been shot in Lucknow and Mumbai. "There is only one scene left to be canned. It's when a modern Gandhi meets Baba Ramdev.And we are shooting with the real Baba next month." he reveals.
Though the number of Hindi films have dwindled, Marathi filmmakers have been offering him interesting scripts. "He recently agreed to play a North Indian politician Pitambar Kale's Marathi film. I like the idea of working with younger talent and great ideas," he signs off.
