It was also announced that a biopic about Mohinder Singh Gill is to be made by Silicon Valley based company Smart We Creatives along with four young men - Chet Jain, writer Sandeep Nath, actor Prashantt Guptha and Jitender Grewal. An Indian-American actor has also been roped in to play the role of the sportsman.
"I am really glad, we could give them a platform at FOGSV to give seed to this biopic of this Arjuna Awardee," says an emotional Dr. Romesh Japra, FOGSV- Founder and Convener.
Disillusioned by politics, Mohinder Singh Gill left it all at the peak of his career and quietly moved to setup his sports equipment business in the USA. In his spare time he takes it upon himself to train youngsters. Mohinder Singh Gill was also elected into the Cal Poly Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993, the only Asian to receive that honor.
Speaking about the biopic, Mr. Chet Jain says, "We are excited for this project and are proud to present it to the world."
Actor and Indian Ambassador of FOGSV, Prashantt Guptha said, "It is the story of an amazing Indian and this is our tribute to him."
Mohinder Singh Gill is the winner of two medals at the Commonwealth Games, gold and silver at Asian Games, and set 19 records with victories in over 52 major international invitational champions in North America and Europe, besides record-setting victories at 5 NCAA Championships. Some of Mohinder Singh Gill’s records still stand 40 years later. He was caught in a web of bureaucracy, that required the intervention of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to allow him to compete in the Asian Games, where he went on to win.
With such respect and adulation from youngsters, it looks like veteran Mohinder Singh Gill is all set for his next record-breaking run, this time at the Box Office!
