A few days after a Kannada producer declared his plan of making a film on Tipu Sultan and roping in Rajinikanth for the film, the BJP and other political parties in Tamil Nadu have allegedly warned Rajinikanth against accepting the proposal. BJP has called Tipu Sultan "anti- Tamil" and thus Rajini should not take up the project, reports Indianexpress.com.

BJP national secretary H Raja said in an interview with ibnlive.com that Tipu Sultan was a murderer and thus making a film that glorifies him would be a distortion of history. However, Rajinikanth's spokesperson said that Rajinikanth does not even have the time of looking at the script and has not agreed to do the project.
