Actor Ranvir Shorey, who recently announced his separation from actress-wife Konkona Sen Sharma after five years together, said he blamed himself for the breakdown of his relationship and not the institution of marriage.

He says he still believes in the institution of marriage.

"I do believe in the institution of marriage... I don't blame it, I blame myself (for the split). I don't think institution of marriage has anything to do it," Shorey told reporters here at the promotional event of his upcoming film "Titli".

Konkona and Ranvir, who are parents to four-year-old son Haroon, took to their respective Twitter accounts to announce their split that follows prolonged speculation surrounding the state of their marriage. They started dating in 2007. The couple got married in 2010 in a private ceremony.

When asked if he will remain single or not, Ranvir said, "Let's talk about 'Titli'." The film is about a dysfunctional family of carjackers in Delhi. It is directed by Kanu Behl, co-produced by Dibakar Banerjee Productions Pvt Ltd and Yash Raj Films.

"When we talk about family we talk about certain idealism within the family... love of parents, siblings and the camaraderie. Every family is not family means one is thrown into relationships but they are missing the core emotions," Shorey said.

"Like there are brothers in the film but there is no camaraderie... there should be love between a father and a child. We have shown darker side of Indian families," he said.

Also featuring Amit Sial, Shashank Arora, Lalit Behl and Shivani Raghuvanshi in the lead roles, the film is set to release on October 30.
