Though the venues of the fest have not yet been finalised, Pakistani producers hope to have screenings in both Delhi and Mumbai.
Jamshed Zafar, vice-president of the Pakistan Film Producers Association (PFPA), said: "We are all enthusiastic about visiting India and holding the screenings. It will be a pleasure to catch up with Indian culture and the film folks in Mumbai and Delhi."
The PFPA has decided to showcase its five best films - "Daku Rani", "Majaajan", "Yeh Dil Apka Hua", "Salaakhen" and "Koi Tujsa Kahan" - at the festival kick-off June 25.
Post "Mughal-E-Azam", the premiere in Pakistan of Akbar Khan's "Taj Mahal - An Eternal Love Story" further strengthened the emerging cultural ties between the countries.
Khan went with a high-powered Indian delegation, including Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni, who invited Pakistani filmmakers to screen Punjabi films in India.
Initiated by well-known filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who has roped in several Pakistani artists like actress Meera and singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in his ventures, this initiative is now being joined by Bollywood greats like Naseeruddin Shah and Aamir Khan, amongst others.
