More significantly, he would be creating history in Indian cinema, for being the first actor who would also write and direct his debut film.
Titled 'Hum Laakh Chhupayein Pyaar... Magar', the venture is a romantic comedy, being produced by his father Tajdar Amrohi. Mashhoor aspires to pick up from the rich legacy of his grandfather.
"I am inspired by all of my grandpa's movies. Even if I can achieve half of his excellence, I would consider myself lucky," quips the multi-faceted young gun.
On being asked, if comparisons with his illustrious grandfather would be unfair on him, Mashhoor confidently states, "They're inevitable. It sure is an uphill task, but filmmaking runs in our blood and I'll do my banner proud."
It's a known fact that the late Kamaal Amrohi captured the imagination of audiences of his time with films like 'Pakeezah', 'Mahal', 'Daera', 'Dil Apna Aur Preet Parayee' and 'Razia-Sultan'.
Although Mashhoor is inspired by the magnanimity and grandeur of the films of that era, what he has set out to make, is a complete contemporary subject.
'Hum Laakh Chhupayein Pyaar... Magar' deals with today's youth and their happy-go-lucky lifestyles. "Its an out-and-out fun movie with plenty of romance," is all Mashhoor reveals at the moment.
Music for the film has been provided by Siddharth Suhas along with debutant composer Abuzar. Six songs have already been recorded in the voices of Kumar Sanu, Shaan, Suraj, Sunidhi Chauhan and Adnan Sami. The shooting starts mid-June.
