An affidavit filed by Bachchan along with nomination papers for a Rajya Sabha by election from Uttar Pradesh states that her husband has movable and immovable properties worth Rs.1.9 billion.
In the affidavit, filed Thursday here, Jaya Bachchan - who incidentally changed her name to Bachchan Jaya Amitabh in the affidavit - said she had two cars in her possession while her megastar husband has 11 cars.
The fleet includes top-end luxury cars such as BMW, Mercedez Benz and Toyota Land Cruiser.
According to her affidavit, Jaya has better bank savings. While there is Rs. 1.1 million in cash in her bank account, Amitabh Bachchan has only Rs. 327,000.
Jaya Bachchan, who has a successful career record as an actress, also has a huge collection of jewellery including diamonds, pearls worth Rs. 69.8 million apart from 364 kilograms of silverware. Her husband has jewellery worth Rs. 29.1 million.
Her investment in share market is Rs. 30.9 million and her real estate investments are in a plot in Noida Film city on the outskirts of the national capital, a flat in her native Bhopal city and in Mumbai where her family is based.
Amitabh Bachchan has invested Rs. 1.24 billion in the share market. His other assets are an agricultural plot in Uttar Pradesh, a house and a plot in Mumbai (Rs. 45 million and Rs.120 million respectively), Rs. 3.5 million flat in Gurgaon and properties worth Rs. 6.7 million in Delhi.
Jaya Bachchan, who had been disqualified by the Election Commission of India for holding an office of profit, is contesting from Uttar Pradesh to be elected to the upper house.
