We allowed him to tickle our ribs with his amazing comic timing, we witnessed him performing those dare-devil act while being in his Khiladi robe and undoubtedly every time this Khiladi of Bollywood entertained us till limits. In fact there is no denying the fact that in his almost 2 two decade longs career whatever Akki has done he has always succeeded in charming us all.

And this time this sinewy performer of Bollywood is trying something altogether different, where he is indulging in a head on battle with none other than Saddam Hussain. Surprised?

Well before you unleash your apprehension mules let`s make it very clear that Akki is not starting any war against late Iraqi leader rather here we are talking about his`s upcoming cine thriller Airlift whose trailer got released recently.

As per reports Airlift is based on a real life evacuation which took place way back in 90s in Kuwait after Iraq`s invasion on the former in order to achieve its aspirations.

If reports are to be believed then they suggest that plot of Airlift revolves around the evacuation operation of 170,000 Indians who got trapped in Kuwait during the war.

Apparently, in this directorial venture of Raja Menon which is inspired from real life instances, Akki is playing the character of a wealthy Kuwait based Indian businessman, Ranjit Katyal, who with the help of the Indian government safely evacuated those 170,000 Indians to their country. Sounds thrilling isn`t it?

But unfortunately to indulge yourself in this engrossing saga starring Nimrat Kaur, Purab Kohli along with Akki, you have to wait for some time, as Airlift is scheduled to hit the screens in January 22, 2016.

In 1990 Saddam and Iraq were in debt of the US because of the long-drawn Iran conflict that it had undertaken. Therefore in order to regain its worth in global platform Iraq wanted Kuwait to reduce oil production, to create a scarcity of oil leading to increasing oil prices, thereby helping Iraq raise more money. But Kuwait refused, leaving Iraq furious.

Infuriated with Kuwait`s response Saddam Hussein on August 2nd 1990 invaded Kuwait to have control over its oil reserves.

The Iraqi army took over the city within a few hours which compelled Kuwaiti royal family managed to escape to Saudi Arabia, leaving the state rudderless. The city was looted and the general population subjugated and made to suffer great tragedies in the hands of the Iraqi army. Kuwait was home to almost 170,000 Indians, all of who had suddenly become moneyless and homeless.
