Critically-acclaimed actor Adil Hussain is on the verge of signing a film with superstar Rajinikanth and says he would do mainstream cinema for financial benefits so that he can continue to act in small films that are relatively less profitable.

"I will do a film with Rajinikanth. I am not giving away the name because I have not signed it yet... Negotiations are still going on. I am doing that film for money. I have to do commercial films to earn money so that I can do small films," Hussain said here.

The "Life of Pi" and "English Vinglish" actor anticipates it would be "great" to work with the veteran star.

"I have not met him yet. Working with Rajinikanth will be great because he is a superstar," the 51-year-old said.

Hussain is in the city to shoot for French production "Crash Test Aglae" in which he plays a transvestite.
