K. Asif's magnum opus, which took nine years to complete, will be the biggest Indian movie being screened
in Pakistan since cinema relations soured between the two countries because of the 1965 war.
Several Indian artists have been invited for the special screening. They include legendary Dilip Kumar and
his wife Saira Banu, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Zeenat Aman, Jackie Shroff, Aftab Shivdasani, Dinoo
Morea, Urmila Matondkar, Amisha Patel, Celina Jaitly, Isha Koppikar, Shilpa Shetty, Neha Dhupia, Saif Ali
Khan, Shushmita Sen, Arjun Rampal.
The Karachi administration gave the permission to proprietor of Mandviwalla Entertainment to "screen and
publicise the movie in cinemas in Karachi".
A statement issued by the media coordinators of the film launch said: "The movie is being exhibited in
collaboration with the City District Government Karachi to raise funds for the president's earthquake relief
fund."
Meanwhile, another Indian film ‘Taj Mahal,' which was released at about the same time when Mandviwalla
and company made the release in Lahore, failed to produce the affect expected from an Indian venture.
