Ekta, 40, who revolutionised the small screen with shows like "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi", "Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii" and "Kasautii Zindagii Kay", was invited by the New York University Stern School of Business.
During the chat session, Ekta shared her knowledge of Hindi entertainment industry, a media release issued here said.
The event was attended by undergraduate students of entertainment, media and technology.
Apart from TV, Ekta also ventured into Bollywood movie production with films like "Kucch To Hai", "Krishna Cottage" and "The Dirty Picture".
Ekta, daughter of veteran actor Jeetendra, has also produced movies like "Love Sex aur Dhokha" directed by Dibakar Banerjee and Vikramaditya Motwane's "Lootera" in collaboration with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.
Her last film production was "Ek Villain" under her banner Balaji Motion Pictures.
