Chopra is to direct Ranveer in 'Befikre', which will mark the filmmaker's first directorial venture after 2008 romance 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi'.
"He (Aditya Chopra) has seen 'Bajirao Mastani'. I don't think he likes me to tell people what he tells me. For the first time, I found him... we were talking over phone... He was fumbling for words. He was unable to find words. He did not know what to say. He was very proud," Ranveer said in an interview here.
The 30-year-old actor also said that megastar Amitabh Bachchan has sent him a letter praising his performance in the historical drama, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
"Today morning, I received my first award for 'Bajirao Mastani'. A handwritten note from Mr Bachchan. Among young actors like Parineeti Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Kangana Ranaut it's all become a thing...'Have you got it' (the letter from) (sic)," he said.
Ranveer said Big B's letter has become a sort of "barometer" for performances.
"It's become a barometer for performances. Whenever I get a note from Mr Bachchan, I get it framed and keep it in my bank locker," he added.
