Music composer Anu Malik says he is always on the lookout to try something new and explore new zones in the world of music.

"I'm very young at heart. I always want to push the envelope and make a sound that has not been done before. When I did 'Ye kaali kaali aankhen' (1993) I wanted to make a song that would last for a lifetime.

"Many youngsters come up to me and say 'We have grown up with your songs' and that is very important to me. I grew up with Pancham da (R.D. Burman) songs and now the same thing being said to me is a big thing," Malik told IANS.

Malik, who is credited for making edgy music which has continued to resonate with each generation, added that "he aims at making memories with his songs whether it is 'Ye kaali kaali aankhen', 'Oonchi hai building' or 'Ek garam chai ki pyali ho'".

The composer, who made music for "Dum Laga Ke Haisha" and "Welcome Back" last year, also feels that it's not about making tunes for a song and moving on, but making a song "that would last for a lifetime".

And now the composer has given a fusion twist to his popular "Ek garam chai ki pyali ho" by recreating a rap version of the song for a Tata Tea advertisement. Apart from Malik, standup comedians Abish Mathew and Aditi Mittal are also part of this concept.

Talking about his experience of working with "young talent", Malik said: "I like the young feel of the whole thing. It was a good idea that I sing the song in a rap. The track was very breezy...It is good to collaborate with young guys.

"The rap is very funky. The concept is beautiful which is not the usual way of saying chai piyo (drink tea)".
