Sujoy Ghosh's long-in-the-planning sequel to his 2012 thriller 'Kahaani' is back on track with Vidya Balan finally coming on board. In 2013, 'Kahaani' co-producer Jayantial Gada reportedly had a tiff with Sujoy over the budget of the project, thereby delaying it.
However, now, we hear that they have trimmed down the budget to take the film on floors in March. This effectively means that his other project, 'Durga Rani Singh', starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will materialise after 'Kahaani 2' is wrapped up.
Says a source, "Sujoy and Gada have sorted their differences and will begin work on the film in March. A formal announcement shall be made after Sujoy wraps up the shoot of Te3n starring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead and Vidya in a special appearance. He wants to make Kahaani 2 before Durga Rani Singh."
Gada, however, plays down the rumours of a tiff with Sujoy. "There were no differences between us, but since the budget that he had in mind seemed way bigger than I would have preferred, the film did not happen. But now, we are surely making the film. Vidya is playing the lead and we cannot think of anyone else playing the role."
He adds: "Vidya got good box office results for the original film and therefore, we should take the brand ahead only with her. But all the creative calls are being taken by Sujoy."
We asked Sujoy when Durga Rani Singh is likely to go on floors, but he did not respond to our text message.
