Sapru told IANS: "I would love to have Sonakshi Sinha in the remake of 'Chameli Ki Shaadi'. Sonakshi has the most angelic face in the industry with almond eyes. She is a true beauty in Indian context. Sonakshi can absolutely justify Amrita's role and can also add layers to her character."
Directed by Basu Chatterjee, the classic film "Chameli Ki Shaadi", features Anil Kapoor and Amrita Aingh in lead.
Asked what prompted him to remake the film, Sapru said: "My current producer Deepak Mukut ('Sanam Teri Kasam' producer), he has the rights of this film and while we were doing this film we were also keen on remaking it.
"We started working on the script and the script is ready. Basu's film is a slice-of-life, light-hearted kind of a film. We have tried to keep the charters relatable in today's date and time." The 'Chameli Ki Shaadi' remake is slated to go on floors this year.
