The unit of 'Rock On 2' shot major portions of the film in Shillong towards the end of 2015 and given that it's a musical, the cast would often sit down together to jam. During one such session, the actors were taken by surprise when the Meghalaya chief minister, Mukul Sangma joined them. Sangma is a music aficionado and over a decade ago, had released a Garo music album in which he debuted as a singer trilling about love and peace.
Says a source, "The boys - Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Luke Kenny and Purab Kohli - and actress Shraddha Kapoor used to jam together every night in preparation for the following day's shoot. On one of the nights, Sangma landed up on the sets, picked up the guitar and matched his tunes with them. The team was left in awe of the CM and the session turned out to be one of their fondest memories of the Shillong schedule."
The insider says that Sangma sang a couple of songs for the cast and crew. In 2012, the CM had crooned the '80s anthem I Want To Break Free by Queen for attendees of an event aimed at fostering growth of Meghalaya's IT sector.
Recalling the jamming session, Purab says, "The makers had set up our kits at the hotel where we were staying. So, every night would end up becoming a jam session. Towards the end of shooting, it became a standard post pack-up activity. The sessions became so much fun that even the chief minister of Meghalaya grabbed a guitar and sang with Shraddha and Farhan at one of our gatherings."
