Madhur Bhandarkar has a unique approach towards cinema and likes to innovate relentlessly, which explains his desire to venture into the unknown.
"I love challenging myself and enjoy taking risks. I am not interested in doing run-of-the-mill films. I have always maintained that I am not a commercial filmmaker. I want to
explore all those subjects which have not been touched by others.
"When I made 'Page 3' people commented, when I went on to make 'Corporate', they said that I have gone mad. It is just that when a thought comes to my mind, I go ahead
and make a film."
His quest for trudging unfamiliar paths will again be seen in his forthcoming film "Traffic Signal".
"The film will showcase the underbelly of Mumbai. It is about the life of people we see at the traffic signals; the eunuchs, beggars, drug peddlers, newspaper vendors,
hawkers, etc.
"There are 60 characters in the film and it also has eight to 10 real life eunuchs and urchins. They've done an amazing job, better than some of the seasoned actors that we
have.
They were completely raw; there was no workshop, yet they performed very well. Kunal Khemu plays the main lead in this film," he explained.
