The actor's survival in the industry has been tough with flops like "Market", "White Noise" and "Aisa Kyon Hota Hai".
Aryan, who was voted the sexiest man in India at one point, will be seen in several upcoming Bollywood projects that include director Anil Sharma's "Apne", "Manoranjan" "Kings Cross" and "Take two".
The actor refuses to go back to his ramp days. "I am 31 now and too old for the ramp. I have already done it for three years and I am totally bored of it," the actor told in an interview.
Asked about his role in television, he admits he enjoys it. "I am very happy to be a part of the television industry. It's great fun and a totally new avenue."
Excerpts of the interview:
Q. What is your role in "Manoranjan"?
A. In "Manoranjan" I am playing the character of a small town boy who comes to Mumbai to make it big in Bollywood. It is a film that has a great message. The title of the film is very apt. The director of the movie is really good and also a great friend. That is the reason I am doing this film.
Q. How is the music of "Manoranjan"?
A. The music of the film is pretty good. Though there are only few songs, it blends with the film. My favourite song is "Saans chalti rahe...". It is a romantic number picturised on Kavita (a new face in Bollywood) and me.
Q. Tell us about "Apne"?
A. "Apne" is a film on boxing. There is Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Dharmendra ji along with me in the movie.
Q. You came to the industry with lots of promises. What happened?
A. Many movies that I did with big banners got stuck. They didn't release on time. If they had, things would have been different.
Q. What is in the pipeline?
A. "Apne", "King's Cross" and "Take Two".
Q. Since you are not getting good offers, are you planning to go back to the fashion world?
A. No, I don't think so. I am 31 and it's too old for the ramp. I have already done it for three years and I am totally bored of it. If nothing works out I will quit (Bollywood).
Q. Are you superstitious?
A. You can say I am sometimes superstitious and sometimes not. It actually depends on the level of fear I am going through at that point of time.
Q. You have been Mr. International 2001. Do you think these titles help in Bollywood?
A. No. I think what matters is which film comes first. Like in my case, most of my good films got stuck and could not come up. Audience saw me for the first time in "Market". If "System" had been my debut film it would have been different for me today.
Q. When you sign any film what do you look for?
A. I look for the banner and publicity.
Q. What about the catering business that you were running?
A. I am very busy these days and I will not get back to catering in any case.
Q. Which is your favourite food?
A. Chinese.
Q. What do you cook the best?
A. Indian. Actually you can reach to conclusions in case of Indian cuisines, as you know the basics. (Laughs) But Mexican and Italian...
Q. You have done TV series like "Campus" and "Jungle Patrol"? Can your fans expect to see you more on the small screen?
A. I am hosting a show on Sahara One called "Sirf Ek Minute Mein". People like the show. I am very happy on television. It's great fun and a totally new avenue.
Q. You have done theatre, catering, television, modelling, and movies what do you like the most?
A. I like everything.
Q. Tell us about your lady luck?
A. (Laughs) None. Seriously.
Q. What about marriage?
A. (Laughs) I think I should start thinking about it.
Q. What are your plans for the future?
A. I don't have any plans. I am very busy these days. I would love to live in London. I am setting up an office in London. I will take actors there and will organise events. Right now I just take TV actors.
Q. What is your favourite brand?
A. I am not brand conscious. It all depends on how I like it. It's not about a brand.
Q. Your favourite colour?
A. White and Red.
Q. What is your favourite attire?
A. Jeans and T-shirt.
