Now, comes a reality show which seeks to search for the "ultimate Bollywood fan" - a complete performer who can failthfully recreate on screen the 'iconic act' of great Bollywood performers like Superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dikshit, Sridevi, Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan or teenage heartthrobs, Hrithik, Saif, Abhishek, Priyanka, Preity or Akshay Kumar.
Seeking to provide for those who "live, think and dream Bollywood" an opportunity to "live the life of their favourite Bollywood star" is 'Superstars', a new show to be premiered on Sahara One next month.
'Super stars', being presented by Sahara One in association with Endemol, a global leader in television and other audiovisual entertainment that creates premium entertainment ideas and presents them to world's leading broadcasters, will have ardent fans of Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh, Madhuri, Hrithik, Abhishek, Rani, Saif and Aishwarya Rai display their ability to completely transform themselves into their Bollywood icons before a jury comprising of Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar and ace choreographer Shiamik Davar as well as millions of TV viewers across the country.
The contestants will be judged on the basis of their ability to faithfully copy their favourite superstar in terms of parameters like look and style, acting and dance. The participants must convince the audiences and the jury that not only do they sound or look like their favourite star, but that they are actually that star.
''The show is different from the talent hunt reality shows like the Indian Idol in that the contestants will not just showcase their singing or acting but it will have them display an entire range of skills.
Infact, it is for the the huge number of Bollywood fans across the country an opportunity to live their dream by acting, singing as well as dancing like their favourite stars,''the COO of Sahara One, Purnendu Bose said at a press meet in the capital to announce the show.
''It is an endeavour on our part to provide a national platform for passion of dancing and singing that drives the soul of many people in India. After all, India is a nation obsessed with Bollywood. There are temples, clubs, associations dedicated to film stars,''Bose said.
Speaking on the occasion, Bollywood star Urmila Matondkar said,''what really got me excited about the show and eager to be a part of it was that it provided me with an opportunity to witness first hand the sheer creativity of the hundreds of 'true Bollywood fans' who will perform at such a huge platform.
After all, it is the hundreds and thousands of such passionate Bollywood fans tht make us the huge stars that we are today.''
''For a contestant, performing on the show is I think one of the biggest platforms that he or she can get to display their latent talent and potential, something that could hopefully help them realise their tinsel dreams,''she said.
