2000 wasn`t a great year for Ajay Devgan with Yeh Raaste Hai Pyaar Ke and Tera Mera Saath Rahe failing at the box office. He begins the new year on a very promising note with `Chori Chori` and Ramgopal Verma directed underworld saga `Company`. `Chori Chori` is directed by Milan Lutharia who made Ajay Devgan - Saif Ali Khan starrer `Kachche Dhaage` a few years back. .Sajid Wajid make an auspicious start to the New Year with three back to back musical score releases - `Tumko Naa Bhool Paayenge`, `Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai` and `Chori Chori`. It couldn`t have been better than this for the composer duo and now it`s upon music lovers to judge upon their credentials. Veteran Anand Bakshi saab writes for Chori Chori`.

 `Mehndi Mehndi` is a feel good song about a young girl who wishes to wait for some more before going to her `Saajan Ke Ghar`. It is a sweet and a cute song - a kind of a song that is seen in a Yash Chopra movie. Alka Yagnik sings this opening track of `Chori Chori` and one can so easily visualize a Sri Devi or a Juhi Chawla singing this one Babul Supriyo makes a very sincere attempt in sounding very subdued and sings in low pitch to give the number a very romantic feel. `Tu Mere Saamne` is again a love song. It is a typical love duet by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik with some Arabian music interspersed. The lyrics have a bit of Punjabi thrown in and the number makes for an okey-dokey time pass listening.

If it wasn`t for the album cover that credits `Main Ek Ladki` to Sunidhi Chauhan, it would have been difficult to guess that it`s really her singing the number. She sounds so very different than her normal over the top Mariah Carrey`s style of singing and instead sings like a sweet little sixteen years old girl. The song is to be heard to believe the transition of her singing style. `Main Ek Ladki` is about a young girl feeling good about all the attention she is getting from the guys around her. `Kehna Hai` by Alka Yagnik and Kumar Sanu is the most hummable track of the album. Nothing great about the composition with ordinary lyrics but it follows the tried and tested path of soft melodies. It has a very light orchastra with a few instruments playing in the background and hence is successful in creating the right mood of romanticism.

There are at least four numbers that are from a girl`s point of view. If `Main Ek Ladki` was about a teenager raving about the attention she is getting and Mehndi Mehndi` had a girl running away from marriage, then the title song `Chori Chori` by Alka Yagnik has her making an about turn. Here she is looking forward to marrying her `Mr. RIGHT`. `Amma Mere` by `Afroz Bano` and `Fareeda Khan` is a song about a discussion between a mother and her daughter who has just come out of her `bachpan` and is entering her youth.

Amir Khusro`s` poetry makes a way into Bollywood music score with `Amma Mere`. Chances are bleak that people will flock the music stores for just this very song. `Ruthe Yaar Nu Manale` by Adnan Sami and Sabri brothers is a Sufiana song with western influences thrown in. Sabri Brothers write the lyrics for this yet another situational song.`Chori Chori` lacks a single chartbuster kind of a sung that may lead to it`s selling like hot cakes. To the maximum, it can be categorized as just a `COME TODAY - GONE AFTER MOVIE`S RELEASE` kind of a musical score.
