Whenever reports claimed that actress Karishma and model-actor Upen were together only to garner publicity, the duo would lash out at the media. The couple went all over social networking sites to prove their 'eternal love', but was it anything more than just publicity? Who knows?
When Karishma entered 'Bigg Boss 8', she claimed to be in love with Rishabh Choksi. However, in the house, Upen and Karishma went from being friends to 'something more'. They came out and professed their love.
The duo was signed up for 'Nach Baliye 7' - the couple dance reality show. During the show, Upen officially proposed to Karishma and gave her an "engagement ring". If that's not all he introduced her to his family and the two even went on several trips together. They even made their fans believe they were about to get married soon.
After 'Nach Baliye 7' they were signed together to host 'MTV Love School', where they were to teach young couples on how to deal with relationships. Clearly they failed to use their own tips in real life.
When rumours began floating about their break-up, Karishma released a statement, "It's normal for couples to fight and have disagreement but that doesn't mean we've broken up". While the actress still insists that all is well between them, Upen has released a statement on his Twitter handle that clears all the confusion.
Me and Karishma have both agreed to part ways. Thank you for all your love.

Though he did not reveal the reason behind the split, the 'China Town' actor appeared quite dejected as he also wrote, "Too much has come to light & shown its true colours. Love is never easy and when a certain foundation is broken it's impossible to move forward."
Around the same time as Upen tweeted, came 32-year-old actress' post on her page that read, "When you find no solution to a problem, it's probably not a problem to be solved. But, rather a truth to be accepted."
Rumour has it that the duo split due to professional issues. After 'Love School', while Karishma was flooded with film and television offers, Upen didn't see much success. This often lead to arguments and hence the couple decided to call it off mutually.
