Directed by Ashtar Sayyed, "Maatr - The Mother", which features "Slumdog Millionaire" fame actor Madhur Mittal as antagonist, delves on the road to justice for women who are victims of violence and rape.
"This film deals about voilence against women. It has become a big concern for our society and mostly what we can see in these type of cases. I am not particularly taking about rape cases only, but all types of violence against women, for which our justice system fails.
"'Maatr' speaks about the system failure and what really can be done or what should be done when such violence against women happens," Raveena said.
The shooting of the film, which is based in Delhi, was wrapped in just 39 days, Raveena says it was not an easy experience for her.
"When I shot for a few scenes, I was disturbed for a week after that. We were all disturbed thinking that these kinds of horrific things can happen to a living being.
We have just shown 10 percent of what a woman has to deal with when such a thing happens with her," Raveena said.
However, Raveena said that the film will have no resemblance to any real life incident.
"It's a fiction film and it is not inspired from any of the cases that have taken place," Raveena said.
Talking about the last day of shoot, Ashtar Sayyed told IANS here on Thursday: "There was a part of montage that required a lot of visual effects, that's what we have shot today. Now we are into post-production".
Sayyed added that they are also going to screen the film at the Festival of Globe, San Francisco in August later this year.
A release date for "Maatr - The Mother" is yet to be finalised.
