Legendary singer Asha Bhosle will perform for paramilitary soldiers serving in some of the difficult areas in Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.

The 82-year-old singer, who has dominated the Hindi film music for six decades with her melodious voice, has herself offered to entertain the soldiers with her songs in forward areas.

Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, said that the singer made the offer to him during a function in Maharashtra recently.

"I am deeply touched, she offered me to sing for our soldiers at border. Hopefully, we could take her to some of the forward border posts in September-October," he told PTI.

Details of the itinerary are being worked out and the singer is likely to visit Wagah as well.

"I grew up with the lovely renditions of Asha ji. I am grateful for her gesture," Rijiju said.

Asha Bhosle is best known as a playback singer in Hindi cinema. Her career started in 1943 and has spanned over six decades.
