"Bas Ek Pal" is director Onir's second film after his "My Brother Nikhil" failed to click in the box office, though it earned critical acclaim and was shown at 25 film festivals.

Set in the metropolis of Mumbai, "Bas Ek Pal" explores the complexities of modern urban relationships. The story revolves around five people who are bound inextricably by an accident that changes their lives forever.

Music directors Vivek Philip and Mithoon infuse a lot of energy into the score and have emerged with a commendable effort.

K.K. and Sunidhi Chauhan give a rollicking start to the album with the foot tapping "Hai ishq ye kya ek khata". Pritam of "Dhoom", "Gangster" and "Chocolate" fame, has been roped in as the guest music composer for this number that has a Latino element in it.

"Tere bin" has all the elements of a soulful love ballad and Pakistani singer Atif Aslam seems to have put in all his efforts into the number.

K.K and Zubeen Garg have lent their voices to the superbly synchronised "Zindagi hosh mein". Their voices almost match and it is difficult to say who is singing when.

The title song "Bas ek pal" is a sentimental number sung by K.K. and Dominique Cerejo.

"Ashq bhi", a sensuous number by Sunidhi and K.K. that also has a Latino touch to it.

Sunidhi and K.K then croon the ballad "Dheemey dheemey" - its opening lines remind one of Aerosmith's "Crazy".

There are also remixed versions of "Tere bin", "Zindagi hosh mein" and "Bas ek pal" by Eric Pillai.

"Bas Ek Pal" turns out to be a very refreshing album. Musical instruments have been used well - specially the clarinet in a few numbers. The western arrangements, backed up by good lyrics, make this album all the more worth listening.

If you really want something fresh, something listen-able, go for this album. You won't be disappointed.
