The Bhartiya Janshakti (BJ) Party, launched by former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti are angry with Khan after an independent agency this month found high pesticide content in 12 brands of soft drinks.
The superstar has reportedly said that these days pesticides are found even in mother's milk - a comment that has left the BJ workers further enraged.
The BJ activists gathered near Regal Cinema in Indore Monday afternoon and tore the posters of the latest film featuring Khan. Police arrived soon and prevented their entry into the cinema hall.
"About two dozen of the activists have been taken into custody," a police official said.
The party workers had Aug 12 held similar protests and threatened not to allow Khan's films to be screened in the city if he fails to apologise within 10 days.
