Bollywood action hero Suniel Shetty had a miraculous escape when his car skidded and slammed into a roadside railing. Shetty sustained a minor neck injury while his driver was unhurt, reports said Monday.

The actor was returning from Pune and was being driven to Thane, on the outskirts of Mumbai, Sunday evening when his luxury Skoda sedan skidded after driving over an oil slick on the Express Highway.

"I think it was a good day and my driver was very experienced. It was scary as it was all normal one moment and the next were taking a turn and suddenly we are careering about madly," Shetty, who single-handedly beats up dozens of villains on screen, was reported to have said.

"God only knows how I was saved. Thankfully, the front portion of the car did not slam into the railing. Because we rammed the left side, the impact got distributed and we did not get hurt," Shetty said.

The car was badly smashed.
