After the overwhelming performance of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay at the Indian box office on the 4th day, fans and trade experts were eagerly waiting to know the collection of the two films on Tuesday - the 5th day.
Although Karan Johar's ADHM managed to collect a little more than Shivaay on its 4th day, the Ajay Devgn-starrer got huge attention for its excellent rise.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had collected Rs 17.75 crore nett at domestic market and Shivaay had earned Rs 17.35 crore on Monday, taking their total 4-day collection to Rs 53.35 crore and Rs 45.91 crore respectively.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had been dominating the box office since day 1 but Shivaay came up strong on Monday, reducing the difference in collection to a small margin. ADHM and the Ajay-starrer did well over the weekend as well, but not up to the expectation due to the festive season.
The day wise break-up of ADHM is Friday-Rs 13.30 crore, Saturday-Rs 13.10 crore, Sunday-Rs 9.20 crore, Monday-Rs17.35 crore. Shivaay day-wise breakup is Friday-Rs 10.24 crore, Saturday-Rs 10.06 crore, Sunday-Rs 8.26 crore, Monday-Rs 17.35 crore.
Monday business was huge for both the films as it was a holiday and the end of Diwali. However, Tuesday collection will be very crucial for both Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The two much hyped movies witnessed a drop in its earning on the 5th day as compared to Monday business, but still managed to make a good moolah.
Having released with a combined screen count of around 5000, both Shivaay and ADHM witnessed decent occupancy on Tuesday. While the Ajay-starrer remained mostly strong in the single screens, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil kept its hold intact in the multiplexes.
Early estimates suggest that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay made impressive collection on Tuesday as well, with little difference between the duo's business. While the exact figures are yet to be out, current trend suggests the two films collected more or less around Rs 14 crore nett each at the Indian box office.
