Talking to a corrospondent, Saket Choudhary, director of Pyaar Ka Side Effects, reveals, "Mallika was not my choice, she was Rongita Nandy's choice. I resisted because Mallika came with an image.
"I hadn't seen Murder until then. My impressions were based on Khwahish. When I narrated the script to her, I was reluctant. But Rahul asked me to think about it. So I did."
Sophie Choudhry is not a huge Mallika buff either. The two shared cold vibes on the sets as Choudhry had a glamorous image while Mallika is shown as a Plain Jane.
Tells Sophie, "When I had initially heard that Mallika was supposed to be completely de-glamorised in the film, I was taken aback.
I had met her the first time on the MTV sets and I remember both Cyrus and I were taken aback with the controversial statements that she had made at that time. Perhaps Mallika enjoys being glamorous or she does not like anyone else being glamorous.
Our tiffs only occurred only on the sets. I have no negative feeling towards Mallika. I believe in doing my work, and following the director's instructions. Yes, Mallika and I are not the best of friends. We did our scenes and went home, we didn't hang out or even interact with each other during the making of the film."
Pyaar Ke Side Effects is about love between two different kinds of people, and the commitment issues that men have. I think everyone is afraid of taking responsibilities, to some extent. Men, more so than women.
The film is essentially the journey between the marriage proposal and the wedding; how Rahul Bose's character reacts to marriage.
