The lead actors of Force 2 were accompanied by Mr Vinod Sawhney (President Ex Sleuths) and Swaranlal Shivram (General Secretary of Ex Sleuths Organization).
They paid their tribute at Amar Jawan Jyoti, the war memorial under the arc of India Gate which is another memorial to 82,000 soldiers of the undivided Indian Army who lost their lives during first world war.
Mr Vinod Sawhney, Swaranlal Shivram, Vipul Amrutlal Shah, John Abraham, Abhinay Deo, Sonakshi Sinha and Tahir Bhasin, also launched a petition to the government of India to recognize and give respect to the unsung martyr's of the country who have given away their lives serving the nation.
Vinod Sawhney, 61, is the president of the Jammu Ex-Sleuths Association, which has been formed for the welfare of those who have worked as secret agents for Indian intelligence agencies, but were later disowned. Sawhney himself worked as a spy for an Indian intelligence agency. He was taxi driver before he was lured to work as a sleuth by an intelligence official, who had boarded his taxi as a passenger. Sawhney was taken in by the man's beguiling offer of a government job. He was sent to Pakistan in 1977 and was arrested in the same year. After interrogation and trial, he was sentenced to jail for eleven years. In March 1988, he was sent back to India. After running from pillar to post for his dues, Sawhney realised that justice takes a long and winding road and he along with fellow members of his organisation are gradually walking up the steep hill along this road.
They are keen that the names of the unsung heroes should get recognized and their martyrdom should be celebrated like those of soldiers.
They launched a petition today, to vocalize their request and spread awareness about their cause, before taking the petition to the government.
There are officers who sign clauses of anonymity for certain operations risking their life without giving second thoughts, they want to make a mere request to the government to find some means to protect them. Once spies are caught they are disowned by the government and their family suffers a great deal, and hence we need to do something to get them recognition and ensure that their work doesn't get unnoticed.
These spies help us prevent/avoid the biggest of wars. Their efforts and sacrifices are left unacknowledged, even while they live and even after their death, they remain uncelebrated.
Hence, the team of Force 2 launched a petition addressing the issue that the long due pending cases of unsung heroes get resolved, helping them receive the needed status and recognition in the society.
