But before Ranveer fans feel jubilant about it, let us tell you DZ released in much lesser screens than Ranveer's Befikre. Dear Zindagi had only 1200 screens while Befikre got 2100 screens. That helped the film earn that kind of a number on its first day.
Now coming to Shivaay, this was a defeat people will talk about a lot. Despite having 2950 screens (As per BOI), the film managed to earn Rs. 10.24 crore. You can't argue that the clash with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil hit it badly because it had more screen count than Befikre. Ideally the numbers should have been better. Next up is Shahid Kapoor's Udta Punjab who got almost similar number of screens (2200) but earned Rs. 10.05 crore on its first day.
Ranveer comfortably went past the number and made more money with his films. Shahid and Ranveer are coming together for Padmavati. There will be confrontation scenes between the two if Sanjay Leela Bhansali goes by the folklore. There were reports that Ranveer had issues with Shahid Kapoor getting a meatier role in Padmavati. Well, if that's the case, Ranveer, these numbers are enough to tell you that you needn't worry about that at all.
Befikre is running really well at the box office and as per Taran Adarsh, Trade Analyst, the film will see an upward trend in the coming two days. It is obviously doing better at multiplexes since it's an urban film. So how many of you have watched the film already?
