At the House of Commons in London "Indo-British Ballroom Dance Jewel Award 2017" was conferred upon him by leading organization in the world record certification and documentation across the global - World Book of Record (WBR) and Indo-British Intellectuals Forum. This honour and this prestigious title was given to him for his unmatched contribution in the field of ballroom Dance and choreography and for being the first Indian to promote Ballroom Dancing all over the World.
The award was given to him by Honourable Minister Virendra Sharma, Ealing Southhall, United Kingdom and Chairman of World Book of Records, Honourable Dr Diwakar Sukul
In presence of renowned dignitaries like Senator of Brussels Honourable Sir Deepak Narwal, Baroness and Ex Mayor of Windsor Honourable Mrs Shreela Flather, Minister of Common Wealth Honourable Alok Sharma and His Excellency Mr Sinha, The Indian High Commissioner to U.K
Honourable Member of Parliament Virendra Sharma tweeted, "A pleasure to welcome Sandip Soparrkar at the parliament to honour his record."
Speaking at the award ceremony Chairman of World Book of Records, England, Dr Sukul said, " Sandip's contribution to promote Ballroom dance in films, television and at classes is completely unparalleled and we at WBR are glad that he is a part of our world records now."
Emotional at the honour ceremony the teary eyed Choreographer said, "I will cherish this moment for lifetime. I Cannot forget the respect and love that is being showed upon me,I am completely overwhelmed and in total disbelief. Thank you for recognising all my efforts."
Sandip was one of the first few choreographers who brought in international dances on the big screen and also introduced Ballroom and Latin Dance culture to dance lovers in India apart from making it famous on Indian television reality shows. Soparrkar's distinctive style of choreography can be seen from the very beginning of his career back in 2001. Some of his most notable work of includes choreography for films like Zubaidaa, Kites and Saat Khoon Maaf, Mangal Pandey, etc. Plus he has taken India globally by teaching dance to International icons like Madonna, Britney Spears and Beyonce Knowles and at the the same time talking about dance at various international film festivals all over the Globe. Many young influences of Bollywood today are also happen to be a part of Sandip Soparrkar's Ballroom Studio.
