With her love for Phulkari reflecting in her outfits for her forthcoming family entertaining Phillauri, Anushka took it upon herself to source and find the best local fabrics and handloom work for the film.
Says a source from the film's set, "Anushka actually bought a whole lot of fabric from a local market in Punjab while shooting for Phillauri. Mehreen Pirzada's mother is well versed with this area and she helped organize the best quality Phulkari fabrics and also a local silversmith's beautiful pieces. When this local silver jewelry maker on the film's sets, all the ladies absolutely fell for the gorgeous ornaments and bought a fair amount. Anushka also bought loads of jewelry from him, as she firmly believes in supporting local craftsmen. She could have easily picked up similar stuff in Mumbai, but she insisted on buying it locally. She also got her Patiala salwars stitched in Patiala from a local tailor. She ensured that she gets quality craftwork and jewelry from Punjab, and her buying or wearing such stuff actually helps move these products across India with other people."
Bright, beautiful and reminiscent of the traditions of Punjab, Anushka will be sporting varied kinds of Phulkari work in this family entertainer, adding loads of color to it's visualization.
