Altering the promotional schedule for his upcoming film 'Jab Harry met Sejal' Shah Rukh Khan detoured his Jaipur visit and made a stop at Jodhpur to accept the honour.
Shah Rukh Khan received a traditional Jodhpuri welcome from the tourist Guides with a Rajasthani pagdi as he landed in Jodhpur.
The Jodhpur Guide Association felicitated Shah Rukh Khan with a membership and badge as a token to mark the association. The Superstar interacted with the Guides and discussed the nitty gritty of their job.
Presenting the Honorary membership Ratan Singh Rathore, President of Jodhpur Guide Association said, "Our heartfelt gratitude to Shah Rukh Khan for accepting the Honorary Membership of Jodhpur Tourist Guide Association and visiting Jodhpur. We are really very happy and it is an honour for us to host him. It will give a boom to Jodhpur tourism and it will give a boom to Jodhpur guides as well. Our best wishes for Jab Harry met Sejal".
Accepting the honour Shah Rukh Khan said, "I am thankful to the Jodhpur Guides' Association for inviting and conferring me with an Honorary Membership. it was my desire to visit Jodhpur and it is for the first time that I am playing the role of a Guide in a film. I have tried to imbibe the intricacies of a Guide. I hope I have come close to what you all do in real life."
Rajasthan is renowned for serving as a Tourist attraction in India with 'Tourist Guide' proving to be a full-time profession in the state. The Jodhpur Guide Association, Rajasthan is a 148 member body consisting of Tourist Guides from the city.
The association marks to be a gesture of awe by the Guides to Shah Rukh Khan who will be seen playing the role of a Tourist Guide in his upcoming film 'Jab Harry met Sejal'.
Ratan Singh Rathore had earlier said while expressing his desire to felicitate him, "We are very excited to bestow Shah Rukh Khan with an Honorary Membership at our Jodhpur Tourist Guide Association. It would be an honour to host him. It is a matter of pride that he would represent our profession in Jab Harry met Sejal. We are happy as he will bring recognition to the job of a Tourist Guide."
The Honorary membership comes as an addition to a list of felicitations and doctorates from around the world as possessed by Shah Rukh Khan.
Shah Rukh Khan will be seen essaying the role of a Guide on celluloid, nearly 52 years since legendary actor Dev Anand's iconic 'Guide'.
Glimpses of Shah Rukh Khan as an outspoken and fun loving Guide have already left the audience rooting for his on-screen character 'Harry' from the film.
Presented by Red Chillies Entertainment, 'Jab Harry met Sejal' is directed by Imtiaz Ali. The film is all set to release on August 4th, 2017.
